The "Butter Slicer" – Maximum Yield, Minimum Waste.

Cylindra is a distinctive heirloom variety that stands out from the crowd. Rather than growing into a traditional globe shape, it produces elongated, cylindrical roots that reach about 15–20cm in length. This unique shape has earned it the nickname "The Housewife's Favourite" because it produces a much higher number of uniform, same-sized slices than round varieties.

Each pack contains 275 seeds, producing roots with remarkably smooth, thin skin that is easy to peel after boiling. The flesh is a deep, dark crimson with a fine, buttery texture and a sweet, earthy flavor. Because the roots grow partially above the ground, they are easy to monitor and harvest.

Why 'Cylindra' is a kitchen garden essential:

  • Ideal for Slicing: Perfect for sandwiches, salads, and pickling jars where uniform rounds are desired.

  • Space-Efficient: Its vertical growth habit means you can grow more beetroot in a smaller footprint.

  • Excellent Texture: Maintains its tender, "melt-in-the-mouth" quality even when the roots reach full size.

  • Slow to Bolt: A reliable performer that holds well in the ground without becoming woody or tough.
