Carrot Fly Advice

Carrot Flyaway shows good resistance to carrot fly but is not immune. For best results, grow alongside a sacrificial variety such as Early Nantes — carrot fly will preferentially attack this, leaving Flyaway undisturbed. Alternatively, grow under enviromesh to prevent access to the crop.

Did You Know?

The carrot is believed to have first been cultivated in the area now known as Afghanistan thousands of years ago as a small, forked purple or yellow root with a woody, bitter flavour. Purple, red, yellow and white carrots were grown long before the now-familiar orange carrot, which was developed and stabilised by Dutch growers in the 16th and 17th centuries.
