The Professional's Choice for a Reliable, Heavy Crop.

If you are looking for the gold standard of green beans, Annabel is the variety for you. Recipient of the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, this variety is widely considered one of the most reliable and productive dwarf beans available for the home gardener.

Annabel produces an abundance of "extra-fine" grade pods that are smooth, straight, and completely stringless. The pods are a beautiful mid-green and stay tender and sweet even if harvesting is delayed by a day or two. Because the plants are exceptionally compact and bushy, they are perfect for exposed gardens or for growing in raised beds and grow-bags.

Why 'Annabel' is a Garden Essential:

  • RHS Award of Garden Merit: Proven to perform consistently and yield heavily in UK garden conditions.

  • Superior Texture: Produces "pencil-slim" pods that are crisp, sweet, and never stringy.

  • Compact Habit: Reaches just 45cm in height; sturdy enough to grow without the need for canes or netting.

  • Space Efficient: One of the best varieties for "Square Foot Gardening"—massive yields from a tiny footprint.

Growing Instructions

  • Variety: Annabel (Dwarf/Bush)

  • Sow Indoors: April to May (in pots or modular trays for an early start).

  • Sow Outdoors: May to June (once the soil has warmed and the risk of frost has passed).

  • Sowing Depth: 5cm (2in).

  • Spacing: 20cm (8in) between plants; 45cm (18in) between rows.

  • Harvest: July to September.

Top Tip: Harvest regularly to encourage the plant to keep producing new pods right through to the first frosts.
